Whisper is between 35-40 years old, and this is his 1st day at HOTW image. He has no teeth, and despite all of that LONG thick fur he is skin and bones underneath.
As of this posting he has only been with us a few days.
Update coming soon.
Grandpa came to us via Redemption Road Rescue in Jackson, TN in 2016. He was an old pony then, and at his passing it was guessed that he was about 36 years old.
He was absolutely, hands-down, the most wonderful little guy, most wonderful pony with my grandchildren that you could ever ask for. Sweetest little fellow ever! It’s hard to believe that precious soul was something someone else threw away at one time in his life.
His name had been changed to Grandpa Goldenshoes when he went into rescue, and that is how everybody knows him, but his paperwork name was Starlight. And between him and I, I always called him Grandpa Starlight, acknowledging who he truly was.
Cat came to HOTW via Redemption Road Rescue in Jackson, TN. She has lived at HOTW since 2016. Cat has a very independent and rather frisky temperament.
Cats life companion is our dear senior mustang mare, Wild Rose. We sometimes think Rose believes Cat is her baby due to the mothering she constantly gives to her.
Cat is a chunky monkey despite the fact that as of 2023 she can no longer eat hay, and is on a full senior diet.
Senior miniature horse stallion Uno Turk is in retirement at HOTWS. Used for nearly the entirety of his life as a breeding stallion due to his impeccable bloodlines.
Turks life companion is our beloved LGD, Peaches. Peaches is a Bulgarian Shepherd & Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dog mix.

Bella came to HOTW in 2017. Her mother had died on a local farm, and she came here for care & rehab. She was in rather bad condition (louse infested, wormy, starving, and anemic), and after enough time had passed, and she had healed, she was adopted by a wonderful family in 2018.
Aren't baby faces just the sweetest ever!
Bella in her new home in 2023.
Lucky4 came to HOTW out of a hoarding situation in 2017, along with the majority of the miniature horses we have taken in here. She came in pregnant, and the result was her lovely little son, Ace of Spades. Ace has since been adopted.
Of all the pony's and mini's we have had here, Lucky4 is my girl. If she even thinks she see's me, this is the look.
Lucky4 is the life companion of her sister mare from the same hoarding situation, Dream Girl. Dream is fully blind, and somehow it seemed a natural progression that Lucky became her eyes over time. These girls have been through a lot, and they are in full retirement.
This is our lovely little senior mini mare, Dream, who is completely blind. Well, I say that knowing she can see shadows, but moving shadows frighten her. All those white marks on her back are breeding scars.
Dream was all that, and more. How such a lovely little mare came into a situation whereby she was simply used, and used, until she was used up, is beyond me. Despite being a former show horse, she was purchased and used primarily as a brood mare, for years and years, her entire life before she came here.
Though Delight, the black & white mare, is not her bio sister, her and Lucky4 have been looking after Dream for several years now. Dream came to HOTW pregnant, as did all the little mares, and her baby girl, Cinderella aka Cinder, was adopted in 2019.
Caresse came to HOTW with her little colt in tow from the same hoarding situation as all the other miniature horses here. Her baby, Charisma, was adopted out in 2019.
Caresse is a rare cremello, presenting to you those lovely baby blue eyes. She had come to us with a pre-existing back/hip issue due to breeding complications.
This is Caresse with her new best buddy at her new home. I had originally intended on keeping her here due to her pre-existing back/hip issue, but RRR in Jackson found the perfect placement for her. How could I say no to that! :)
Delight also came to us pregnant, and foaled within a few months of being at HOTW. She had been double bred back to her sire, and the result was a beautiful little filly we named Tahini. Sadly this breeding resulted in Tahini being born with flexural rear limb deformity.
Delight is one of my favorites, probably due to her constant need for lovins, and will follow me around everywhere. Though she is not a senior, I have chosen to keep her here as a companion for her daughter, Tahini.
As funny as this seems, Tahini's best friend is my Juliana mini pig, Winston. Maybe its the dual colors, maybe its because Winston tolerates ONLY her, maybe something else, but they really enjoy each others companionship.
As of October 2023 HOTWS has adopted out 17 Rescued Ponies
